My Legal Journey from the Cab to the Courtroom

 

Hey everyone, and welcome to Law Talk With Callum – my corner of the internet where I share my journey, thoughts, and insights as I work my way into the legal profession.

 

My name’s Callum, I’m 21 years old, and by day (or more often, by very early morning), I work full-time as an HGV driver, running long shifts in a 44-tonne Class 1 HGV. It’s a demanding job – early starts, long hauls, and plenty of road time – but it’s also taught me a lot about discipline, patience, and resilience. All qualities I now bring into my studies and future legal career.

 

Alongside work, I’m currently studying Law full-time on an accelerated degree. It’s intense, but I genuinely love it – especially subjects like criminal law, the law of tort, and law and the state.

 

Before this, I completed an HNC in Digital Technology, and an Access to Higher Education Diploma in Social Science, where I focused on Criminology, Law, and Psychology. Both gave me useful insights into how systems operate, how people behave, and how legal frameworks shape society – all of which add depth to my legal studies.

 

So, What’s Law Talk With Callum All About?

I’ve started this site for a few reasons:

  • To document my journey from full-time lorry driver to legal professional
  • To share insights from a law student’s perspective – the real stuff: long nights, courtroom visits, legal research, and how I juggle it all with full-time work
  • To make law more approachable for anyone curious about legal issues – whether you’re a fellow student, someone thinking about studying law, or just someone who finds the legal world confusing or intimidating
  • And eventually, to build a platform that showcases my growth, research, and passion for law as I head toward a career in prosecution or litigation

 

I’m not here to pretend I know it all – I don’t. But I am here to learn, grow, and hopefully bring a fresh, grounded voice to legal discussion. Whether it’s a breakdown of a recent case, reflections on a lecture, or a thought I had while stuck at a truck stop – if it’s legal (and maybe a bit personal), you’ll find it here.
